Rental contracts: know property and casualty risks

Article Abstract:

Holders of rental contracts are advised to check with their property-casualty insurance agents to determine the coverage of their insurance and potential liabilities. They should find out if the insurers of their landlords have subrogation rights that can be used against them to demand damages and personal liability claims, in case they damage the property. Leasers should also check if minor assembling or manufacturing will increase their rental should this cause a rise in the landlords' insurance and casualty rate.

How to choose the right disability coverage

Article Abstract:

Business executives with dependents should not overlook the protective value of having disability insurance. Given that the probability of being disabled for a certain period of time is higher than the probability of dying young, executives should not believe that disability insurance is less important than life insurance. In deciding what type of policy to buy, they should ask how much coverage they need, what kind of coverage they need and how much they can afford to pay.

Are any of your properties or contents underinsured?

Article Abstract:

Coinsurance sometimes results in underinsurance, if no updating of the coninsurance clause in a property insurance policy is undertaken to keep pace with the property's current value. This is because insurance firms apply the coinsurance clause as a penalty clause if adequate coverage is not maintained on the basis of the property's replacement cost. An example of how underinsurance, as an offshoot of coinsurance, can occur is presented.
