Reserve Bank should take its lead from Greenspan

Article Abstract:

Reasons are presented as to why the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) should take its lead from the US Federal Reserve and cut interest rates to speed up the slowing economy. A cut to 6% would not only help the internal Australian economy, but would also help provide a buffer against the influence of a weakened US economy.

Australian treasurer Peter Costello is of the opinion that the commodity prices will not continue on their present upward course and that the boom is soon going to wane. Costello has also indicated that no more tax cuts will be offered and the government will opt to retain its surpluses.
