Restaurant industry

Article Abstract:

The restaurant industry was helped by the good US economy in the 1990s, but the economy has slowed and is not expected to grow until the 2nd half of 2001. The industry does face several challenges and restaurant patrons are expecting more value. Investors will find some timely stocks, however, and others with potential over the next three to five years.

Stocks of the US restaurant industry have done well during the last three months of the year 2001, in spite of the poor economy. Diners are still eating out, however, but sales for the year have not been exciting. Several of these stocks are timely, but investors need to be selective.
