Retail building supply industry

Article Abstract:

The retail building supply industry has benefited from an improved operating environment for home improvement stores and the extended homebuilding boom in the US. The home improvement, building supply superstore in the US has also replaced the local paint and hardware store as a retail outlet, and superstores are also expanding their services to the professional market. There are several timely stocks in this industry, and investors should concentrate on individual stocks with good prospects, such as Lowe's Companies and Home Depot.

Retail building supply industry

Article Abstract:

The retail building materials industry has been transformed in the 1990s from the small materials and hardware stores to large superstores whose formats are akin to warehouses. Business expansion has also led Home Depot Inc and Lowe's Companies to alter their formats and many retailers are beginning to serve contractors as well as consumers. These stocks are timely in 1999 and several have good earnings prospects for the next three to five years.

Retail building supply industry

Article Abstract:

Stocks of the retail building supply industry have performed less well than in the past with the slowing US economy in 2000 and 2001. There is more room for consolidation in the industry, and Home Depot and Lowe's remain the leading companies. Lowe's Companies Inc is the only timely issue in this industry for 2001.
