Strategic consensus in operations strategy

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze theoretical arguments concerning the importance of strategic consensus using data from seven manufacturing facilities from the metalworking industry. A combination of survey and case study methods were utilized to obtain data from the manufacturing plants. A methodology for determining more holistic, multiple respondent research on operations strategy was then developed. Results indicated a number of strategic areas supporting disagreements between levels of the firm.

Explaining manufacturing technology use, firm size and performance using a multidimensional view of technology

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the association among factors in advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) use, firm size, and performance in manufacturing companies using a multidimensional framework of AMT. The MANOVA method was utilized to evaluate industry effects using four technology factors and six industries. Results correlated firm size with performance. Findings also showed that firm size enhanced the association between AMT use and performance.

An empirical test of the rigid flexibility model

Article Abstract:

An empirical testing was undertaken to assess the validity of the rigid flexibility model in manufaturing. The test takes into consideration the relation of flexibility model with trade-off and cumulative models. It also takes into account variations between nations in the utilization of the rigid flexibility model. The test revealed the validity and applicability of the model in whole or in part across several European nations.
