Strategic value management: towards a financial framework for developing the general manager

Article Abstract:

Strategic value management (SVM) refers to the application of innovative means of accounting, finance and strategies that would address the changing business environment. SVM is largely influenced by the subject matter, which is the company's financial picture and the course delegate, which refers to the entity who manages the business. The management educator, who formulates and teaches academic business strategies, also influences SVM. The principles behind shareholder value analysis (SVA) are discussed and applied to financial information available from Glaxo Holdings PLC. SVA is an alternative accounting procedure which determines the value of the business based on factors affecting cash inflows and outflows. The course delegate would be responsible for applying strategic processes such as SVA. The management educator is tasked with communicating these alternative business strategies.
