The Certified in Financial Management (CFM) program

Article Abstract:

The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) launched the Certificate in Financial Management (CFM) program in Dec. 1996. It is intended to expand certification opportunities to IMA members who are not yet certified, as well as to other financial professionals who do not consider themselves accountants. The CFM designation is also designed to avoid state regulation over the use of the word 'accountant,' and to promote the growth and strengthen the professional influence of the IMA. Certification offers numerous benefits to those who can earn it, including greater professional recognition, higher pay and enhanced employment opportunities. For employers, the CFM designation can help improve the knowledge base of the human resources department, and enhance the professional stature of the employee and leadership team.

Confidentiality involves the need to maintain the confidentiality of information obtained while performing one's duties.
