The Role of Shocks in Employee Turnover

Article Abstract:

Data from National Health Service hospitals are used to assess the extent to which shock, or a single jarring incident, impacts employees' decisions to quit. The data highlight how conventional research methods may lead to an inaccurate portrayal of employee turnover; flaws are identified and alternative processes are described.

The influence of foreign direct investment on state-owned enterprises in China is examined, focusing on the degree of objectives alignment between foreign investment entities and Chinese firms. Managerial skills and behavior in the negotiation process are also examined.
