The benefits of growing older

Article Abstract:

The age-weighted profit-sharing plan approved by the IRS is the best alternative for retiring employees. It is a combination of a defined benefit plan and a traditional profit-sharing plan. Under the new plan, employers need not spend too much on employee insurance for actuarial services and computations are unnecessary. Moreover, they do not need to pay premiums to the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation. Contributions are also based on a workerr's age and salary rather than on salary only. Indeed, the new plan offers unique features that are beneficial to both employers and workers.

Incomes, incentives and the growth of means-testing in Hungary

Article Abstract:

The Apr 1996 reforms to family benefits in Hungary have created slight effect on household incomes. The introduction of reforms to family benefits has slightly improved the income of Hungarian households belonging to the very bottom of the income distribution. On the other hand, the same reforms have substantially reduced the income of those belonging to the highest level of income distribution. Such reforms have also paved the way for the extended use of means-testing.

Symposium on assets, incomes and retirement

Article Abstract:

A number of developed countries have initiated various reforms on their retirement and public pension policies. An intensive study on the behavior of retirement-aged individuals and their response to the changes can help the government in forming and implementing policies. A retirement survey can adequately monitor the labor force activity concerning income, economic status, health and mortality ratio which might have a significance on policy making issues.
