The determination of top executive pay: importance of human capital factors

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to assess the influence of a number of human capital measures on the remuneration of the highest paid directors (HPD) of large firms in the UK. Director quality was represented as a function of the human capital assembled by the HPDs of public companies in the country. Several human capital variables were considered in the study, including age, experience, job qualifications, possession of tile and the number of additional directorships. Results indicated the need for remuneration committees to identity the extent to which human capital features were accommodated in determining the pay of top executives. Findings also showed that human capital variables influence basic salary more than bonuses.

Post-experience management education and training in China

Article Abstract:

An overview is presented on China's post-experience management training and education processes, and their perceived weaknesses and strengths. The authors argue that while most training currently emphasizes hierarchical structure, a training process that focuses on an organic and informal work environment would improve organizational communication, increase adaptability and enhance efficiency in human resources.
