The family line buckles

Family businesses in Australia are finding it increasingly difficult to continue with their traditional methods of running business. The competitive forces all around are driving home the need to professionalise their businesses. Failure to do so could mean the business has to perish. Conflicting interests, succession planning problems and tougher IR practices are also taking their toll on this type of business.

A group of people is formed who are passionate about the interests of small and medium businesses (SMEs) as they were frustrated that they were not given importance. This round table came up with solutions including ideas for a code of conduct for big business when dealing with small business.
