Woolworths decision to announce Roger Corbett as Reg Clairs successor has led to some drop in share price. There are concerns from major investors about Corbett's lack of grocery retail experience. Corbett stresses his contribution in the recent successes of Woolworths. He has been responsible fro profits from Big W. Future plans for the company include a medium-sized supermarket.

Ateco works on a mixture of Japanese innovation, French style and Italian bravado

Automobile sales are doing well in Australia. Sales increased by 11.1% in 1997 to reach a record 722,642 cars sold and sales increased 16.1% from Jan-Sep 1998. Ateco Automotive sells Citroens, Suzukis and Alfa Romeos. The company is confident about sales growth because these car lines are being re-introduced, rejuvenated or experiencing a renaissance in sales.

Taubmans, 'with imagination', tries to paint its way out of a corner

Article Abstract:

Taubmans has launched a new ad campaign designed to reposition the company in Australia's paint market. Using the slogan, "Paint with imagination," Taubmans will spend A$3.3 million to emphasize the brand's molecular structure, ingredients and creative potential. The ads are a response to Taubmans drop in market share, from 22% in 1992 to 15.8% in 1997.
