The impact of EC R&D programmes on corporate R&D practice in Europe: a knowledge-base approach

Article Abstract:

The creation of an EC R&D policy and funding and its contribution at the corporate level are examined. The study, based on the EC Framework Programme on European firms, considered the interaction between additional resources for corporate R&D and the firm's R&D implementation strategy. Production-intensive companies exhibited greater use of EC R&D programs than knowledge- and design-intensive firms. However, the adoption of such programs may also be attributed as a response to current markets of international competition.

Research and development (RAD) managers are seeking for analytical solutions to determine technologies that would enhance small business unit competitiveness and lead to long-term strategic positioning.
