The role of the demand planner in supply chain management

Article Abstract:

Demand planners should abandon their traditional roles and make more strategic contributions to supply chain management. These professionals have always focused on supplying management with accurate point estimates based on sales history. However, they can increase their contributions to the organization by acting as business analysts and learning how to define and measure the market elements that influence the business. This practice facilitates decision support analysis that can help management in achieving sales forecast goals.
