To catch a thief

Article Abstract:

Retailers can win their biggest battle by reducing the amount of stock stolen, lost, damaged, returned or wasted which is known as "shrinkage", stock losses costing retailers $2.5 billion in 2003 ($1.2 billion in New South Wales alone), according to the Australian Retailers Association (ARA). Statistics show that 39% of this is from employee theft, 38% from external theft and new technology is the solution.
