Trans fat: taste buds cry "Yes!" but arteries demur

Article Abstract:

Trans fat, the worst but least-known member of the fatty-acid family, hides inside many popular foods brands without the benefit of labeling. The fat has properties of both saturated and unsaturated fats. It raises bad cholesterol as does saturated fat. It can also lower good cholesterol. It has been called "the biggest disaster in the US food supply" by Walter Wilson, co-author of a recent New England Journal of Medicine study.

Kellogg names Gutierrez as new CEO in an effort to revitalize cereal maker

Article Abstract:

Kellogg's Arnold Langbo is continuing as chairman of the cereal company while turning over the CEO duties to 45-year-old Cuban native, Carlos M. Gutierrez. Langbo, who started with the firm 44 years ago as a 17-year-old, plans to retire in April 2000 when Gutierrez is expected to take the chairmanship. Analysts claim it will be a challenge for Gutierrez to boost sales enough for the company to have even a lackluster year.

Article Abstract:

Anheuser-Busch Cos. Teamsters have turned down a second national labor contract offer. However, there is no assurance that the union will go on strike.
