U.S. demands Israeli settlement freeze in return for $10 billion in loan guarantees

US Secy of State James Baker reported to Congress on Feb 3, 1992, that the US will provide Israel with $10 billion in loan guarantees through 1997 on the condition that the Israeli state discontinue settling the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Bush spurns Israel loan compromise

Pres Bush is opposed to a congressional compromise measure that would provide Israel with $10 billion in loan guarantees between 1992 and 1997. Bush will not provide aid unless Israel changes its policies in the occupied territories.

Bush, Rabin agree on Israel loan guarantees

Pres Bush and Prime Minister Rabin reached an agreement that would allow the US to provide loan guarantees to Israel. Bush and Rabin reached the $10-billion agreement on Aug 11, 1992.
