Upstart Yahoo! teaches the old hands a thing or 80 million

Article Abstract:

Yahoo! Inc., the American online services provider, has the largest customer base in the world and has been able to apply new technology to undertake a massive global marketing campaign with its customers. The $30 billion company has captured the names of 65 million users around the world and begins by asking them for an e-mail address and basic details. The willingness of people to reveal such information will allow Yahoo! to eventually isolate individual preferences. Australian businesses could benefit from such a marketing approach.
