Views on health insurance

The majority of small business owners would prefer to keep their existing health plans rather than switch to government-mandated or government-financed plans. The results of a 'Nation's Business' poll of small business owners about health care coverage are discussed.

Article Abstract:

Pres Clinton's health care reform may require businesses with less than 1,000 employees to buy health insurance from regional cooperatives, instead of being able to self-insure. Many smaller businesses object to this proposal, while labor unions favor it.

Workers' comp costs: out of control

Article Abstract:

The high cost of workers' compensation insurance affects many small businesses. The cost of insurance has increased dramatically because of weak regulations, higher costs for medical care, fraud and litigation. Reform programs are described.
