Watchdog's new teeth

Article Abstract:

More than $78 million of funding initiatives aimed at strengthening the financial regulators and the government is looking to beef up corporate disclosure, prudential regulation and corporate insolvency enforcement. Australian Securities & Investments Commission would receive a further $12.3million over the next four years for an initiative designed to increase surveillance, investigation and enforcement in relation to corporate insolvency.

Your move, says Mitsui chief

Article Abstract:

Yuji Stake, chairman and managing director of the Japanese trading house Mitsui & Co, states that Australia is missing the opportunity to invest more in the Japanese economy that would bring a revolution in the relationship between the two countries. Japan is Australia's largest trading partner that accounts for about $22.1 billion of annual exports and about 15.7 billion of imports.
