Watching the Whitehouse

Article Abstract:

US president George Bush and Australian Prime Minister John Howard have shared amicable political relations during their respective tenures. However, there could be a change in equation especially to AustraliaEs trade interests, if John Kerry defeats Bush in the US Presidential elections on November 2, 2004. AustraliaEs greater concern is, however, the economy, which will be affected irrespective of who wins the election.

The federal government of Australia started to transfer its information technology operations to outside agencies in 1997 to make savings. However an Auditor-General's report in 2000 highlights lack of efficiency and high costs.
