Water utility industry

Article Abstract:

The Water Utility Industry ranks in the lower half of industries in terms of investment potential. The industry is undergoing consolidation, which offers publicly owned firms more potential because they have easier access to capital. Many firms are finding that diversification is boosting their revenues, and the reauthorized Safe Drinking Water Act will most likely benefit the industry.

Water utility industry

Article Abstract:

Consolidation is taking place in the fragmented water utility industry. This long term trend will prove most beneficial for publicly traded companies. Investors should not buy water utility stocks from Jul 1998 through Jun 1999. Good dividend growth and safety rankings of American Water Works and Philadelphia Suburban could make them good investments in the future.
