Weinberger notes undermine Bush claims

Weinberger's notes from 1986 indicated that George Bush, who was vice president at that time, was aware of and approved of the government's arms-for-hostages deal. Bush claims that he didn't know the details of the deal until several months later.

Walsh reports on Weinberger notes

Article Abstract:

Walsh made public the excerpts from Weinberger's diaries related to the Iran-Contra scandal on Feb 8, 1993. The excerpts revealed that Weinberger had knowledge of the scandal as early as 1985. Tapes made by then-VP George Bush also were released.

Weinberger indicted in Iran-contra case

A federal grand jury has indicted former Defense Sec Caspar W. Weinberger in connection with the Iran-contra arms scandal. Weinberger faces five counts of lying and obstructing an investigation.
