Article Abstract:

The opportunity to acquire the prestigious Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is available only to members of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). This exclusive privilege is one of the major benefits of membership in the IMA. The CMA certification brings numerous advantages to accountants who qualify for it. Among others, the certification proves that a management accountant is adequately trained to provide the decision making expertise needed for effective organizational planning and management. The CMA certification can be obtained through the completion of a comprehensive examination that objectively measures knowledge of management topics such as decision analysis, ethics and organizational behavior. To date, over 11,000 IMA members have obtained the CMA designation and more are expected to do so as the growing importance of this professional credential is recognized.
