An arcane levy extends its reach

More people and small businesses have to pay the alternative minimum tax, a tax originally designed to ensure that wealthy individuals and profitable firms pay their fair share of taxes. One reason why more people are paying the tax is that the provisions have not been adjusted for inflation.
