3i acquires a Prize asset

Article Abstract:

There were a number of complex legal issues associated with the 57 million pounds sterling buyout of Booker Prepared Foods Group from Booker. For this reason, 3i, which backed the deal, took legal advice from Travers Smith Braithwaite. The London, England, office of 3i contributed 29 million pounds sterling to the deal. The new operation will be known as Prize Food Group, made up of WA Turner, Headland Foods, Buckingham Foods, Salaison Le Vexin and TMI Foods.

Doughty Hanson cooks up an exceedingly good deal

Premier food company, Ranks Hovis McDougall Europe, is to be purchased by Doughty Hanson, a private equity company, with a view to expansion. The price of 1.1 billion pounds is subject to shareholders' and European regulatory approval.
