A cost-allocation system applied to Dutch hospitals

Article Abstract:

Health service industries in the Netherlands were supplied with an integrated hospital cost-information system that incorporated an extended hospital cost-allocation system and the adjusted Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) system. The system was applied to three Ducth hospitals and was found useful for internal budgeting. Results of the analysis of the system is important for the decision-supporting system for input allocation.

MINOS(IIS) version 4.2: analyzing infeasibilities in linear programs

Article Abstract:

Stanford University has released the latest version of its large-scale linear and nonlinear optimizer. Called MINOS(IIS), the new program is a modified variant of its predecessor and its main distinguishing feature is its inclusion of routines for analyzing infeasible linear programs. The program's basic ingredients include repeated Phase 1 solutions, Phase 1 sensitivity analysis and added constraints elasticities.

Research is presented concerning the effectiveness of 'do it yourself' spreadsheets created by non-specialist individuals. The role of OR specialists in supporting 'do it yourself' spreadsheet developers is discussed.
