Article Abstract:

The traditional view that gold is a refuge during times of financial crisis is being challenged by analysts, who cite the failure of gold prices to rise amid the currency crisis of 1992 as evidence. Advocates of gold, however, are predicting a rally in the gold market during the 1992-93 period.

While investment in manufacturing industries has been falling, investments have increased in service industries. The revival of the investment tax credit might offer a temporary boost to investment in manufacturing, but it may be costly, and ultimately it will fail.
