A dynamic lot sizing model with exponential machine breakdowns

Article Abstract:

Two unique situations are considered in the study of the dynamic lot sizing model with stochastic machine breakdowns. The first situation assumes that a setup is entirely lost and new setup costs ensue after a breakdown. It was established that not attending to machine breakdowns will lead to expected cost hike of no more than 17% higher than the expected minimum cost. The second extension assumes that the cost of continuing the production run after a breakdown may notably decrease the ordinary production setup cost. It was shown that termination or resumption rely on the realized production quantity so far.

A buffer minimization problem for the design of embedded systems

Article Abstract:

A scheduling method of minimizing buffers in embedded systems is presented. Embedded systems are comprised of a set of tasks in a sequential manner with a set of buffers that are managed as a first in first out structure.
