A model for the relative importance of the criteria in the multiplicative AHP and SMART

Article Abstract:

The problem of weighing the importance of criteria without considering the units of performance measurement or the performance of the alternatives is considered. To this end, the geometric-mean aggregation rule in the multiplicative Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the arithmetic-mean aggregation rule in the Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) are described. The two are suitable for distributed decision-making processes where the substitution rate between the relative gains and losses of the alternatives describe the relative importance of a pair of criteria.

Generalized golden sections, repeated bisections and aesthetic pleasure

Article Abstract:

Development of golden section models to study the aesthetic aspect of architectural designs and visual arts is discussed. Additional information on the geometric models used by the multi-criteria decision analysis is also included.

Assessing the quality of negotiated proposals using the REMBRANDT system

Article Abstract:

Multicriteria decision analysis is examined in detail, using the REMBRANDT system. A hypothetical example is set out in order to illustrate the methodology.
