A process for generating quantitative belief functions

Article Abstract:

A structured method for transforming qualitative preference relationships among propositions into appropriate numeric representations is proposed. The method will be effective in the difficult process of knowledge acquisition from experts on the level of belief in different propositions or the probability of the truthfulness of those propositions. Also, the method provides for various degrees of preference relationships. Its advantages are discussed.

An action learning evaluation procedure for multiple criteria decision making problems

Article Abstract:

An action learning evaluation procedure that incorporates ambiguity on the part of the decision maker is presented. The procedure provides a structure for prioritization and synthesis while accommodating vagueness and ambiguity. Its three main advantages are minimizing decision-making pitfalls, facilitating the decision maker's understanding of the variables involved in a decision making situation and helping the decision maker reach a decision.

Modelling pairwise comparisons on ratio scales

Article Abstract:

The problem of modeling pairwise comparisons on ratio scales is examined. The problem occurs in multiple-criteria decision making which involves scoring on a qualitative/subjective domain where intransitivity and inconsistency exists. A model, which provides a mathematical representation of intransitivity and inconsistency, is introduced. It enables the development of procedures for obtaining consistent intervals on ratio scales.
