A review of mathematical models

Article Abstract:

Different mathematical models of warranty processes are discussed. The models are compared and classified according to the perspectives of manufacturers, consumers and public policy makers. The results show that majority of the models are cost-analyses of one-dimensional and one-variate warranties necessitating further research on multi-dimensional and multi-variate warranties. In addition, more research are needed in different areas such as linking design and manufacturing with warranty, modelling of buying behavior that incorporates warranty and development of models that allow comparative evaluation with other studies.

Research into the behaviour of firms that adopt China's State-owned Enterprises' Contract System (SECS) is presented. Issues addressed include how a contract under SECS can be implemented to boost the combined benefit.
