A tale of two cities

Article Abstract:

The UK financial services industry is bigger than that of any other European country, and the value of London stockmarket dealings exceeds those of Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Paris put together. However, the advent of the euro, and the UK decision not to join the European Economic and Monetary Union, could pose a threat to that UK dominance. The euro will be the second currency in the world in terms of market size, so capitals within that currency bloc could assume a greater importance.
