The Labour Party's 'shadow budget' announcement was pure political theater, not a well-accounted financial plan, and belies would-be chancellor John Smith's reputation of competence. The budget is criticized point by point, and its drastic affect on the economy is outlined.

Dismal swamp: tax breaks

Article Abstract:

Promising tax cuts to the middle class is just a ploy on both the part of Congress and the Bush Administration. Both parties know that the other will not allow their plan to pass. The political chicanery of tax reform is discussed.
