ANSALDO OUT OF MYSORE POWERGEN PROJECT

Article Abstract:

Ansaldo Energia of Italy has opted out of its proposed joint venture power project with Mysore Powergen. Andsaldo's decision is based on a report by the consulting firm, KPMG Peat Marwick. The Rs4,000 crore,1000 mw power project was to be set up at Chamlapur near Mysore. Ansaldo was against the ownership structure of the company. The price of equity demanded by Mysore Powergen was very high. Mysore Powergen claims that the agreement was only a memorandum of understanding. Ansaldo is against the conversion of the plant from a coal fired one to a combined cycle one. Ansaldo prefers developing the greenfield projects by itself. The promoters now plan to tie up with Mitsubishi and Larsen and Toubro. (vv)

ANDHRA PRADESH INVITES ANSALDO TO SET UP JOINT VENTURE

Article Abstract:

Andhra Pradesh has asked Ansaldo Energia, an electro-mechanical subsidiary of Finmeccanica of Italy, to start a joint venture with state-run engineering companies. Ansaldo Services (P) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ansaldo Energia, says that a team from Italy will soon hold talks with state officials to evaluate the proposal. The state's industries department will soon be sending Ansaldo Energia a list of possible locations for the joint venture and incentives. (khr)

ANSALDO SEEKS INDIAN PARTNER FOR BOILER VENTURE

Article Abstract:

Ansaldo Energia of Italy, a boilers producer, is searching for an Indian partner for establishing production facilities for large- sized boilers in India. It proposes to tie-up with producers of medium sized boilers. Ansaldo proposes to transfer the technology to Indian partner after the joint venture commences its activities. It also proposes to use Bangalore as a base to sourcing engineering products for exports to the Asia Pacific region. (ag)
