APOLLO TYRES NET DOWN 65.3%

Apollo Tyres has registered a decline of 65.3 percent in net profit to Rs20.21 crore for the nine months ended December 31, 1998 (Rs30.95 crore for the nine months ended December 31, 1997). Its net sales declined to Rs832.33 crore (Rs940.78 crore). Its gross profit has declined to Rs43.07 crore (Rs55.19 crore). It has posted a net profit of Rs5.28 crore, gross profit of Rs14.39 crore and a net sales of Rs297 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 1998. (rk)(m)

VIKRANT TYRES TURNS AROUND

Article Abstract:

Vikrant Tyres Limited (VTL), a part of JK Industries Limited (JKIL), has achieved a turnaround by posting a profit before tax of Rs18.13 crore in 1997-98 as compared to a net loss of Rs5.35 crore in 1996-97. The company's exports income has registered a 14 percent growth to Rs73.26 crore. VTL managed to post a profit of Rs16.46 crore within 10 months after it was acquired by JKIL on June 1, 1997. (gs)
