AUSTRIA: AGREEMENT ON TELEKOM BUSINESS PLAN

Article Abstract:

The supervisory board of Telekom Austria has approved the business plan of the former telecoms monopoly, paving the way for the company's launched on the stock exchange. The company's shares are to be introduced on the Vienna and New York stock exchanges in November 2000. The business plan is based on the assumption that Telekom Austria, in which Telecom Italia holds a minority stake, will return to black figures in 2001, making a small profit. For year 2000 Telekom expects a loss of more than Sch 3bn, as the result is burdened by the cost of staff cuts.

AUSTRIA: NEW BOARD FOR TELEKOM AUSTRIA

Article Abstract:

The supervisory board has appointed three of the four members of the new board of directors of Telekom Austria (TA). A sales and marketing director is to be appointed by the end of April 2000. Heinz Sundt, chief of TA's mobile phone subsidiary Mobilkom Austria, succeeds Werner Kasztler as director general. Rudolf Fischer was re-appointed technical director. Stefano Colombo, who comes from the spectacles maker Carrera-Optyl, represents the Italian stakeholder Telecom Italia in TA's board.
