AUSTRIA: FRENCH TAKE OVER BERNDORF CUTLERY

Article Abstract:

The Austrian Berndorf group, which is involved in the production of steel strip, industrial furnaces and oilfield equipment, has sold a 70% stake in its cutlery division to Guy Degrenne of Paris. The French company generates an annual turnover of about EUR 130mn with cutlery, porcelain and crystal glass. That of the Berndorf division amounts to EUR 23mn. Guy Degrenne is to use the Berndorf brand for expansion on the German market.

AUSTRIA: KYOCERA SEEKS HIGHER MARKET SHARE

Article Abstract:

In the financial year to 31 March 2000 Kyocera expects to sell more than 6,000 printers in Austria and generate a turnover of more than Sch 60mn, up 50%. The company that entered the Austrian market eight months ago aims to raise the market share in laser printers to 10%. Rather than using the price of the printer as a sales argument, the company emphasises low operating costs.

AUSTRIA: VW REMAINS LEADER IN VANS

XA=Auf der Strase boomt es weiter In 1999 Volkswagen sold 6,802 (up 3% from 1998) LT and T4 vans in Austria, defending its market leadership. The sales of Mercedes Vito and Sprinter vans increased 14% to 3,917 units, while those of Ford Transits declined 6% to 2,459 units.
