Masterfoods is to invest Sch 150mn in its two Austrian factories. Sch 84mn is allocated for new confectionery technology for Breitenbrunn, while the rest is to be spent on the factory in Bruck. In 1999, Masterfoods Austria increased turnover by 2.5% to Sch 4.319bn due to a growth in exports.

Germany: Diabetic sues Coca Cola, Masterfoods

A retired judge in Germany is suing Coca Cola and Masterfoods for damages. He maintains that the drink and chocolate producers are partly responsible for his diabetes, as they do not warn about the hazards of the products on the packaging. He is claiming damages of initially DM 11,000 and wants them to pay future costs of treatment.
