AUSTRIA: KDG MEDITECH BOOSTS PRODUCTION

Article Abstract:

KDG Meditech is planning investments of Sch 100mn. The Austrian Elbigenalp-based company is to quadruple the production of digital versatile discs (DVD) and increase by 50% that of CD-ROMs. A production plant is to be set up in the UK in year 2000. KDG is to increase the number of staff by 10% from 476 at present. The company has already doubled the production capacity for DVDs and recordable CDs from 1998, when it made an operating profit of Sch 151.4mn (up 10%) on a turnover of Sch 936mn (up 27%). 1999 sales are estimated at Sch 1.1bn. KDG is to go public in year 2000.

AUSTRIA: KDG MEDIATECH HIVES OFF DATARIUS

Article Abstract:

KDG Mediatech AG, the Austrian storage media maker, has hived off its technology department, forming a new company called DaTarius in Reutte. It is said to be the world market leader for quality and testing systems for optical media such as CD and DVD. The company with 60 staff serves 250 clients (among them Microsoft, Sony and Warner) and generates an annual turnover of Sch 174mn. DaTarius is to be launched on the stock exchange in the medium term.

AUSTRIA: KDG CANCELS STOCK EXCHANGE LAUNCH

Article Abstract:

Kdg Mediatech has cancelled a stock exchange launch due to the lack of demand by institutional investors. The company had expected to raise Sch 84.4mn in Vienna and Brussels to finance acquisitions and expansion in the field of DVD technology.
