AUSTRIA: MOBILE CALL PRICES GOING UP

Article Abstract:

One is said to be the first mobile phone operator in Austria to raise prices. The company that expects to reach the 1mn mark of clients in year 2000 is no longer offering new clients the option of cheaper calls to a "favourite region". Instead, there will be a single rate for calls everywhere within Austria. How high this rate is depends on the "package" chosen by the client. From September 2000 One is raising the one-off activation fee from Sch 400 to Sch 499. Among competitors, Tele.ring is to charge an activation fee of Sch 350 from September, while in the past it charged none. Max.mobil will continue to charge Sch 444 and Mobilkom Sch 450. One is raising also the prices of SMS, and there will be a charge of Sch 50 per month for invoices with details of each call. Clients who have not agreed upon direct debit will be charged an additional Sch 30 per invoice.
