AUSTRIA: SIEMENS INVESTING IN RINGO

Article Abstract:

Ringo, a fully-owned subsidiary of Siemens, is investing initially Sch 30mn to 40mn in a call centre in Hollabrunn, Austria. The unit will be one of three European call centres and serve the central and east European markets and Switzerland. It will provide a wide range of communication services, primarily for the Siemens group. The Hollabrunn centre is to open in June 2001 and create 100 jobs by the end of 2001 and another 200 in the 12 months after that. Currently Ringo employs about 100 staff in Vienna.

AUSTRIA: STREAMLINING AT ROHRWERK KRIEGLACH

Article Abstract:

The Austrian Krieglach-based pipe manufacturer Rohrwerk Krieglach is to give up the production of cold-formed precision pipes and reduce the number of staff by 117 to 64. The accumulated losses of the Krieglach mill, which was acquired by the CAG Holding of Mr Cornelius Grupp in 1998, total about Sch 60mn. Last financial year the mill generated a turnover of Sch 430mn.

AUSTRIA: NEW OUTLETS FOR SCHOPS

Article Abstract:

The textile retailer Schops, which has about 100 outlets in Austria, is to open 10 new shops in 2000 and expand the chain further to 150 outlets by 2004.
