AUSTRIA: VOSLAUER TAKES LEADERSHIP

Article Abstract:

Voslauer AG, which is part of the Getrankeindustrie Holding , claims to have gained a 28.4% market share in the Austrian food retail trade in value terms, overtaking Romerquelle, which has 25%. In 1999 Voslauer saw a 12.9% increase in mineral water sales to 135mn litres, while the market grew by 0.6% . Voslauer generates 80% of turnover with the retail trade. In the restaurant sector the company's sales increased 8.6%, which is above the <2.8%> growth rate of this market segment on the whole. Voslauer's sales of soft drinks declined 7% in 1999. The company's overall turnover grew 5% to Sch 745mn and profit on ordinary activities 25%, amounting to a "double-digit million figure". Voslauer aims at a further increase in market share in year 2000. Beside new products positioned in the convenience segment, the company is setting hopes on marketing campaigns. Among such projects, Voslauer is cooperating with a winter tourism resort.

AUSTRIA: BBAG MINERAL WATER SALES UP

Article Abstract:

In 1999 Austria's biggest drinks group, Linz-based Osterreichische Braubeteiligungs-AG (BBAG) saw a 15% increase in the sales of its mineral water brands Gasteiner, Gussinger and Severin. By relaunching the Gasteiner mineral water, the company aims to raise its market share by 1% per year. In the first quarter of year 2000 BBAG's sales of non-alcoholic beverages increased 10.4%, while beer sales declined 1.6%.

AUSTRIA: VOSLAUER INCREASES MINERAL WATER SALES

Article Abstract:

Voslauer, which accounts for 30% of the sales of mineral water through the food retail trade in Austria, expects a 15% increase in sales volume to about 1.7mn litres in year 2000. The same rate of growth is expected in turnover. In order to reduce the seasonal fluctuation of mineral water demand, Voslauer is cooperating in marketing with tourism partners and regions.
