Accenture's Chairman invests hope in a 'Greater' China

Article Abstract:

Accenture chairman Vernon J. Ellis says that Asia will be affected by the sluggish U.S. economy, so Asian manufacturers should try to diversify their markets, especially taking advantage of the potential in China. Although the recession could be short-lived, there is no way to really forecast people's expectations, which will determine when sales rebound and the recession ends. In the wake of September 11, companies need to continually re-examine their operations.

Boston Consulting sees the region's upturn accelerating

Article Abstract:

Boston Consulting Group (BCG) said that the shifting client focus in Asia from costs to growth shows that Asia's economic recovery is accelerating. The recovery indicates higher spending on business advice, returning BCG's Asian-Pacific units in 1999 to the 20% to 30% growth rates that occurred before the Asian economic crisis occurred in mid-1997.
