Airline turbulence in India

Article Abstract:

Tata-Singapore Airlines is a proposed joint venture which is seen as a test of the willingness of India to permit foreign involvement in its domestic airlines. The JV has encountered political opposition with the 40% stake to be held by Singapore Airlines seen as too large. The Foreign Investment Promotion Board has yet to approve the scheme. Meanwhile, some Indian states are starting infrastructure projects such as airports with private sector involvement.

Saudi Arabian power plans

Article Abstract:

A power station may be built in Shuaiba in Saudi Arabia on a built operate transfer (BOT) basis. Tenders have been issued by the Saudi Consolidated Electric Company for the Western Region (Sceco-West). Sececo-West may also build a further station at Shuaiba, although its lack of finance has meant the complex has been delayed. It expects new expansion to be funded largely by the private sector.
