Article Abstract:

A memorandum of understanding between Algeria's Sonatrach and Russia's OAO Gazprom has lapsed, easing concerns in Europe that a partnership between the two gas suppliers would lead to increased prices. Estimates show that the European Union bloc's dependency on imports could rise to 70% by 2030; Russia and Algeria are Europe's first- and third-largest natural gas suppliers respectively.
