Allianz, building Asian business, seeks acquisition
Article Abstract:
Allianz AG, an insurance company based in Germany, intends to purchase an Asian firm by the year 2000 as the company has plans to expand in Asia. The planned move also indicates the company's effort to attain its target of DM3 billion in Asia-Pacific premium income by 2000. Michael Diekmann, who is the CEO of Asia-Pacific Allianz AG, anticipates Allianz to market its first mutual fund in Asia, adding the product is probably a retail fund with an Asian focus, but connected to insurance. Allianz, which has assets worth DM600 billion, offers property, commercial, personal, life and casualty insurances.
