Allied Carpets' problems result in resignations

Article Abstract:

Allied Carpets Group PLC's accounting problems resulted in the resignations of Finance Director David Pout and the head of the group's retail operations, Steve Barber. Pout, instrumental in bringing Allied to the stock market in 1996, will be succeeded by in an interim capacity by Bruce Wright, a former top executive at Meyer International PLC and Kingfisher PLC's B&Q unit. Barber was a director of the group's main trading subsidiary.

Maelis, UBS may part ways

Ken Maelis, UBS AG of Switzerland is considering resigning his post at the investment bank. Mr. Maelis is frustrated by UBS AG decisions around entering new markets. The Swiss bank manages 2.98 trillion Swiss Francs ($2.45 trillion) in assets and is one of the largest banks worldwide.
