Amazon earnings decline by 58%; expenses cited

Article Abstract:

Amazon.com Inc. of the United States posted a second quarter profit slide by 58 percent to $22 million from $52 million last year. Revenue losses were due to the close out of a partnership with Toys "R" Us Inc. also of the United States and increased expenses. Operating expenses increased by 34 percent to $462 million from $346 million.

EBay posts 14 percent drop in profit but raises full-year forecast

Article Abstract:

eBay Inc. of the United States posted a profit slip in the second quarter by 14 percent as revenues increased by 30 percent. The internet auction house has grown into maturity as sale products prices decreased. eBay Inc. is planning a $2 billion stock buyback by 2008.

Yahoo is overhauling online-shopping tools
