Amazon.com Inc. posted a net loss of $323.2 million (326.9 million euros) for the 1999 fourth-quarter. However, the company's share value rose as a result of strong forecasts.

Amazon narrows loss in 1st quarter on 22% sales gain

Amazon.com Inc. reduced its net loss for the 2001 first-quarter with an increase of 22% in its sales. The company posted a $234.1 million (261.8 million euros) net loss for the period, compared to a net loss of $308.4 million in the same 2000 period.

Amazon's Pledge Could Derail. Online Retailer Promised Analysts It Will Deliver Its First Operating Profit in 4th Quarter

Earlier this year, Amazon.com announced that it expected to show a profit in the fourth quarter of this year. After the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack, the company is uncertain about profits. Even if the company does show a profit, the company will still have to continue to restructure to satisfy investors.
